Research on water quality preservation methods in dams and downriver areas, and sedimentation control

The purpose of constructing dams is to contain water flows, but at the same time dams also retain large amounts of sedimentation. Furthermore, the temperature and the quality of the water contained by a dam and in downriver areas change after the dam is constructed. In order to control the transfer of sedimentation and the temperature and quality of contained water, and to enhance and maintain the quality of reservoir water and downriver flow directions, we are developing technologies that release built up sedimentation in dams to downriver areas, technologies to control the temperature and the distribution of muddy water, and technologies for the extraction of water with suitable temperatures and quality.
