Mr. Keiichi Ishii, the minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism visited PWRI

On December 12, 2016, Mr. Keiichi Ishii, the minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism visited PWRI to learn equipment used by PWRI researchers to conduct their research.

The minister first visited the Structural dynamics laboratory to see a wheel running test machine. Mr. Fumihiko Kanazawa, the director of the Center for Advanced Engineering Structural Assessment Center, first explained the workings of the test machine and the research performed by his group. Mr. Kanazawa also invited the minister to observe the machine actually in motion.

The minister then took a look at a geotechnical centrifuge model at the Dynamic geotechnical centrifuge laboratory. Mr. Hidetoshi Kohashi, the director of the Geology and Geotechnical Engineering Research Group, showed the minister the facility and explained how the centrifuge model works.
