In response to the request of Oita Prefecture for Emergency disaster relief for the heavy rain in northern Kyushu, We dispatched Landslide research team leader Tohei of our Institute, an expert on sediment disaster.

First of all, the souls of the victims due to heavy rain in northern Kyushu ,we pray for sympathy to the victims as they pray. We also pray for early restoration as soon as possible.

In response to the request of Oita Prefecture for Emergency disaster relief, the Public Works Research Institute dispatched an expert on sediment disaster, Landslide research team leader Tohei and others to Ono area of Hita City Oita prefecture where large-scale slope collapse occurred.

After the survey, they advised the mayor, the city and prefectural officials, etc. about the danger of the slope and how to monitor the site.

In a subsequent press conference, they commented on the situation of the Ono area.It was featured on NHK news at 7 pm on the 8 th, NHK special on 9 th etc (see picture).
