UNESCO-ASPAC was held on the 22 April, in the 169th UNESCO Executive Board. In this conference, Mr. Terakawa, who is the director general of secretariat for preparatory activities of UNESCO-PWRI Center, made a presentation about the plan for establishing the center. After Mr. Sato, who is the Japanese ambassador, introduced the abstract, Mr. Terakawa explained the background to the center establishment, the purpose, the activity plan for research, training, and information in the field of water hazard and risk management, and the preparation activity.
After the explanation, the ambassadors in Australia, Indonesia, Laos, Vietnam, Bangladesh, China, Cambodia, India, Thai, and Sri Lanka expressed their opinion of supporting the establishment of the center.
