Hillslope collapse, Kamikitayama, Nara (30 Jan 2007)

Collapse  occurred at 7:50am, 30th January 2007. Height: 35 m, Width: 30 m. R169 was entirely closed off after the incident for removing debris and applying countermeasures. Our team was officially requested by Nara Prefecture to provide a guideline for emergency measures as well as following countermeasures. (Photo: Nara Prefecturej

Collapsed slope after debris slipped off (looking uphill). Weathered sandstone (brown colour) overlies fresh and solid shale (grey colour).
