The 14th UNESCO-IHP Training Course was held at the Cititel Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia hosted by the Humid Tropic Center (HTC-KL). This course had been held in Japan, and it was the first opportunity to be held outside of Japan. More than 40 professionals from the Asia participated and this course was composed of two parts: The first one was a lecture session where Mr. Ikeda made a presentation on the planning of the UNESCO-PWRI Centre followed by the session to review the past achievement and to discuss the future course toward more fruitful training course with the lecturers, the past participants and the trainees of this course.

During the training course, Mr. Ikeda had the opportunity to visit the HTC-KL kindly guided by Dr. Mohamed Nor DESA, Director of the HTC-KL. This HTC-KL was established in 1999 as a category-2 center under the auspices of UENSCO. The HTC just moved to the new office next to the Parliament this February, and it seems now developing further the activities by establishing good partnership with the other UNESCO IHP Centers including the new UNESCO-PWRI Center, which is going to be established in 2005.
