I am grateful to be accepted as a Research Assistant in ICHARM. To learn from and work under a prestigious research institute specializing in water-related disasters is truly an honor. This experience will enable me to make significant advancement in my career and expand my knowledge in the field which I have been immersed in ever since my undergraduate years. I hope that this journey, together with the PhD program at GRIPS, will help me take the hydrologic and hydraulic modeling skills into the next level, which is to draft flood risk management policies to help create more sustainable solutions to mitigate flood risk. The ultimate goal is to help contribute to the advancement of research and help not only my fellow Filipinos but also those in developing countries that are often hit and devastated by strong typhoons and other hydrometeorologic hazards.
