Landslides triggered by the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku earthquake (2011 Great East Japan earthquake)

A number of landslides have occurred due to the earthquake of magnitude 9.0 hit the eastern part of Japan on 11th March, 2011 (maximum seismic intensity: 7).

Landslide Research Team have carried out field investigation from helicopter in coorporation with the National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management, MLIT, as well as detailed field investigation on the slope disaster situations. A part of the research result is reported below.

We express our concern for the victims of the earthquake.
