Dam Hydraulic Laboratory and Annex

The Dam Hydraulic Laboratory (L102 m × B44 m) and its Annex (L70 m × B29 m) are used to study hydraulic phenomena in dam reservoirs and related facilities such as spillways, outlet works, and intake systems.

These laboratories play a key role in the hydraulic design of government-owned dams, particularly those managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT). Almost all spillways and outlet works of MLIT dams are tested and designed here.

Dam hydraulic facilities, including spillways, bottom outlet, energy dissipation structures—are examined through three-dimensional physical model tests. These tests assess and modify flow conditions, structural pressures, water levels, gate discharge rates, and other hydraulic characteristics.
