The Geology Research Team in the Material and Geotechnical Engineering Research Group of the Public Works Research Institute (PWRI) is the only organization in Japan which conducts comprehensive basic research in the field of engineering geology commissioned by the Japanese government.
　Our major research subjects include the evaluation of foundations of civil engineering structures, development of geological investigation techniques, assessment and conservation of geological environments, prevention of geologic hazards, use of stone materials, and systematization of geological data and information.
