ICHARM Director Toshio Koike Awarded the Chinese Government Friendship Award

On September 30, Prof. Toshio Koike, the director of ICHARM, received the 2019 Chinese Government Friendship Award at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China. The Award is the highest honor given by the Chinese government to foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to the social and economic development of the country. Grateful for the highest recognition from the Chinese government, the professor comments, "I have been involved in research on the water cycle in the Tibetan Plateau since 1991, and the research has been very productive. I thank everybody for that. I also would like to say that it has been a real privilege to work closely with many Chinese researchers.”
