The Japan Hub of Disaster Resilience Partner (JHoP) is a unique network-based research body on disaster risk reduction (DRR) composed of national universities, research institutions, and operational bodies in Japan. JHoP has promoted interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, drawing on members’ experience and expertise in research, education, and social implementation, and has contributed to building a more evidence-based and disaster-resilient society in Japan and overseas since 2019. ICHARM is also a member of this partnership.
In the upcoming symposium in August, speakers from JHoP member organizations will present various practices, and participants will discuss the recommendations issued by the Science Council of Japan on April 10, 2026, titled "Science, Technology and Innovation to Strengthen Disaster Resilience in Megacities Facing Catastrophic Disaster Risks." These discussions will be combined with JHoP's four activities, with the aim of strengthening collaboration between academia and society in disaster prevention and mitigation.
