Do you know that November 18 is called "Civil Engineering Day" and November 18 through 24 is called "Life and Civil Engineering Week"? Japan Society of Civil Engineers (An organization consisted of civil engineers including universities and research institutes) laid these down in 1987. November 18 is the day when the Japan Federation of Engineering Societies (An organization consisted of all kinds of engineers including civil engineers) was established in 1879, and November 24 is the day when Japan Society of Civil Engineers spun off from the Japan Federation of Engineering Societies and founded in 1914.
