Research on maintenance of new materials, unutilized materials and recycled materials used in infrastructure

In the future, we will face increasingly strong demands to contribute to the formation of a recycling society by providing structural materials that are made of new materials, and the utilization of new construction techniques which are both high performance and cost effective. We will also face demands for the effective utilization of previously unused and recycled materials. Accordingly, the PWRI is researching such recycling technologies as the reuse of structural materials with highly reinforced steel bars and fiber reinforced plastics (FRP), non-standard aggregates, organic waste matter and other types of industrial waste materials. Research on utilization technologies for recycled materials is also underway.
